Windows You’ll Love Coming Home to

With a wide range of window choices available for your Northampton home, it can be challenging to make a decision.

Choosing the right windows is an important decision that can affect your residence’s look, feel, and energy efficiency.

Your choice of windows can even affect the value or saleability. There are several factors to consider when selecting, such as the style of your home, the size and orientation of the windows, your budget, and any relevant building codes or regulations.

The team at Styleglaze is here to help you navigate the options and choose the perfect windows for your home.

uPVC Windows

White uPVC frames have long been the most popular choice for windows in the Northampton area. uPVC windows are affordable and easy to maintain. They are also energy efficient, durable and can withstand extreme weather conditions.

uPVC windows are incredibly versatile. Choose windows in any style or configuration and for further personalisation, choose a colour or woodgrain finish to make your home stand out.

You do not need to repeat the configurations of the old windows.

Aluminium Windows

Aluminium windows are becoming an increasingly popular choice for premium windows in the Northampton area. Aluminium windows are strong and durable, and can withstand even the harshest weather conditions. They are a great choice for homes with a modern style.

Aluminium windows are a bit more expensive than uPVC double glazed windows, but they are worth the investment when you factor in how long they last.

The strength of aluminium allows for slimmer window frames that can hold larger expanses of glass. This means that aluminium windows can let in more natural light, making your home feel brighter and more open.

Timber Windows

Discover the timeless elegance and natural beauty of Timber Windows, where craftsmanship meets sustainability to redefine the essence of home design.

Our timber windows are crafted with precision and care, showcasing the warmth and character of wood while providing unparalleled performance.

Embrace the beauty of tradition and modern functionality with our exquisite range of timber windows, where each frame tells a story of quality, craftsmanship, and a commitment to a sustainable future.

Window Styles

When you consider which style of window to choose, try to think of the window area as just a hole in the wall that you can fit with any style you want. A chance for fresh ideas.

Consider air flow and whether you have enough opening windows to cool the room in summer. Security may also be a factor. If you like the windows to be open, will you feel safer opening top lights rather than the full window?

If you have trouble getting to the outside windows for cleaning, consider Tilt and Turn Windows.

Is uPVC or aluminium better than timber windows?

Whether uPVC, aluminium or timber windows are better depends on a range of factors, including personal preference, budget, and the specific needs of your property. Each material has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it’s important to weigh these up before making a decision.

uPVC windows are a popular choice due to their durability, low maintenance requirements, and energy efficiency. They are resistant to rot, rust and weathering, and can be easily cleaned with soap and water. uPVC is also a cost-effective option, making it a popular choice for homeowners on a budget.

Aluminium windows are another popular option due to their strength, durability and slimline design. They are resistant to rust and corrosion, and can be easily tailored to suit specific design requirements. Aluminium is also a good option for larger windows as it can support larger glass panes.

Timber windows have a more traditional and natural appearance, making them a popular choice for period properties and conservation areas. They offer good insulation and can be easily repaired if damaged. However, timber windows require regular maintenance, including painting and staining, to protect them from rot and insect damage.

Ultimately, the choice between uPVC, aluminium or timber windows will depend on your individual needs and preferences. At Styleglaze Installations in Daventry, we offer a range of window materials and designs to suit a range of budgets and design requirements. Our team of experts can provide advice and guidance on which material is best suited for your property and help you make an informed decision.

Flush Windows that Look Like Timber

Flush windows look great with any house style, but they are particularly popular in traditional residences. Flush sash window profiles are a great alternative to wooden windows and doors. The profile looks similar to that of timber so is sympathetic to historic styles while also incorporating modern technology.

Flush windows are more popular in uPVC but recently aluminium window manufacturers have also come up with great alternatives to timber.

Window Choices

There are two major choices to make when considering windows for your home. The material – aluminium, timber or uPVC, and the Glazing – double-glazing or triple-glazing. Both affect the performance and the price. We love all of the options so will offer unbiased advice.

Aluminium, Timber or uPVC?

uPVC comes out on top in terms of cost and are an estimated 20% cheaper than aluminium and timber windows. You also have more variety for quality standards with uPVC. You can buy extremely cheap windows but they are rarely worth it in the long term. Stretching the budget a bit could prove well worth it when build quality and finish are taken into account regardless of which material you choose.

Double Glazed or Triple Glazed?

Most windows in the UK are double-glazed. This is because, with modern windows, you can exceed the government guidelines and achieve a warm home without the additional expense of triple glazing. However, if you want the best possible energy efficiency, Aerogel technology combined with triple glazing will achieve U-Values of 0.9 W(2K), well below the 1.8 set by the government.
