Windows and Doors for Energy-Efficient Homes in Northampton

There are a lot of factors to consider when choosing the home improvements for your Northampton home. It can be hard to know where to start when faced with so many options. Double glazed windows are the natural choice for most homeowners, but you’ll still need to choose which style of windows and doors will suit you best.

At Styleglaze, we’ll guide you through the options to make sure that you choose the right windows for your home.

What is Double Glazing?

Double glazing is made up of two panes of glass, with a space in between them. This space is typically filled with argon gas to insulate the window and reduce heat transfer. Double-glazed windows are more energy efficient than single-pane windows and help to keep your home warmer in winter. The cold hits the outside pane of glass but the argon gas acts like a blanket to stop it from penetrating the second pane of glass and reducing the temperature inside.

This is why we don’t see Jack Frost painting his icy pictures on our double glazing in Northamptonshire nowadays.

Aluminium Double Glazing in Northampton

It used to be thought that aluminium windows were cold. This is because of heat transfer. Metal is an excellent temperature conductor. This means that when cold touches the frame, it could transfer the cold to the walls or inside your home.

Thermal Breaks

Premium windows and doors have a thermal break, so the cold is blocked. Our aluminium double glazing exceeds government recommendations for thermal efficiency.

uPVC Double-Glazing

UPVC double glazed windows are the most popular choice for homeowners in Northampton. All our windows exceed requirements for thermal efficiency, are available in any style you can imagine and are exceptionally durable.

Strong and Long Lasting

uPVC double-glazed quality windows have aluminium frames inside. This contributes to the long-lasting quality of your windows and stops them from warping which causes gaps and, therefore, draughts.

All our windows and doors have at least a 10 year guarantee. Complete customer satisfaction is our mission.

Wide Range of Energy Efficient Home Improvement Products

We supply a wide range of  high quality products for home improvements, covering Northamptonshire from our head office in Daventry

Composite doors and premium windows are our most popular products. We also supply a full range of patio doors including French doors, bi fold doors and sliding doors.

Replacement conservatory roofs, roofline products, garage doors, carports and verandas are also much sought after in the Northamptonshire area.

Casement Windows for Classic Style

Casement windows are one of the most popular styles of double-glazing in Northampton. The flexibility, energy efficiency, and classic look make them the perfect choice.

Casement windows are hinged on one side, which could be the top or bottom, and open outward. This allows for maximum ventilation and views, making them an excellent double-glazing option for any room in your home.

They suit almost any home in Northampton and are available in aluminium and uPVC.

Flush Windows that Look Like Timber

Flush windows look great with any house style, but they are particularly popular in traditional Daventry residences.

Flush sash double-glazing profiles are a great alternative to wooden windows and doors. The profile looks similar to that of timber so is sympathetic to historical styles while also incorporating modern double-glazing technology.

Flush windows are more popular in uPVC but recently aluminium window manufacturers have also come up with great alternatives to timber.

Traditional Sliding Sash Windows

One of the most significant advances in double-glazing technology has to be the modern sliding sash window.

With mock horns, Georgian styling, and stained glass options you can hardly tell the difference to look at but you will notice the difference in thermal efficiency and ease of use.

No more tugging at windows that have been painted shut and have warped over winter.

Double Glazing Installation

There are two major choices to make when considering new windows and doors for your Northampton home. The material – aluminium or uPVC, and the Glazing – double-glazing or triple-glazing. Both affect the performance and the price. We love all of the options, so will offer unbiased advice.

Our expert team are the reason we are highly recommended. You’ll experience expert service during the whole process, from the initial contact to the completed work and beyond. Our comprehensive range of home improvements includes windows, doors and conservatories plus garden rooms, replacement roofs, garage doors, roofline products, verandas and carports.

Aluminium or uPVC Double-Glazing?

When compared to aluminium, uPVC double-glazing comes out on top in terms of cost and is an estimated 20% cheaper than aluminium. You also have more variety for quality standards with uPVC double-glazing.

You can buy extremely cheap uPVC windows but they are rarely worth it in the long term. Stretching the budget a bit could prove well worth it when build quality and finish are taken into account regardless of which material you choose.

Double Glazed or Triple Glazed?

Most windows in Northampton are double-glazed. This is because, with modern windows, you can exceed the government guidelines for thermal efficiency and achieve a warm home without the additional expense of triple glazing.

However, if you want the best possible energy efficiency, Aerogel technology combined with triple glazing will achieve U-Values of 0.9 W(2K), well below the 1.8 set by the government.
