Do More With Aluminium Bifold Doors

Bifold doors are a great way to open up a room and connect the indoors with the outdoors.

Aluminium Bifold doors are made up of a series of panels that fold back on themselves. This means they can be opened up fully, making them ideal for rooms where you want to create a sense of space that flows seamlessly into the garden.

The choice of where you place the master door gives you the flexibility of using it simply as a back door when you just want to step outside without opening up the whole wall.

Space Saving Aluminium Bifold Doors

The unique design of our bifold doors makes them great for homeowners looking to save space and create the widest openings. The folding door design allows the leaves to stack behind one another for a compact solution. This design also allows for a wide-span opening for your bifold doors, which could be a lifesaver in summer when ventilation is necessary.

Each individual door leaf runs along a solid aluminium track. Each wheel is made from a resilient nylon material that resists degradation for lasting performance. Our bifold doors will guarantee lasting performance for years to come.

What is the cost of bifold doors?

The cost of bifold doors can vary depending on several factors, such as the size of the opening, the materials used, the number of panels, and the complexity of the installation. Generally, the cost of bifold doors can range from a couple of thousand to tens of thousands of pounds.

We partner with several manufacturers to give us doors that fit any reasonable budget. What we can’t do with bifold doors is offer cheap. Cheap bifold doors will always fail quickly, proving to be a false economy.

Bifold doors are heavy and have to move smoothly to stay working well for as many as 20-30 years or more. If you need to compromise, consider a less expensive door rather than on quality.

Our quotes are free and without obligation, so get in touch, and we’ll measure and advise on the best options and give you a firm price.

Do you have curtains with bifold doors?

You can have curtains with bifold doors but you must consider how they hang and when they will be used.

1. Where will they sit when the bifold doors are open? You will need wall space on both sides of the door so that when open, the curtains do not obstruct the view.

2. If your curtains do hang over the doors, try not to have the master door behind the curtain as the curtain will soon be ruined.

3. Consider the space above the doors. If you are planning an extension or new build, you may be able to allow for a discrete ceiling track. Otherwise, you will need to allow for a pole.

4. Alternative choices are blinds that either fit to the frame or are manufactured with the doors, inside the glass. This allows you to shade the individual doors without closing the curtains during the day. You could then use mock curtains for decoration.

Do you need planning permission for bifold doors?

In most cases, planning permission is not required for the installation of bifold doors. This is because bifold doors are considered a permitted development, which means that they can be installed without the need for planning permission, subject to certain limits and conditions.

However, there are a few instances where planning permission may be required. For example, if you live in a listed building, conservation area, or other protected area, you may need to obtain planning permission before installing bifold doors. Similarly, if the bifold doors will significantly alter the appearance of the property, such as by changing the style or colour of the doors or the materials used, you may need planning permission.

It’s always a good idea to check with your local planning authority to confirm whether planning permission is required for your specific circumstances. They can provide you with guidance and information on any restrictions or requirements that may apply.

Which bifold door brands do you recommend?

As an independent supplier of aluminium bifold doors, we are able to objectively recommend the right bifold door for your home. Origin bifold doors are thought to be the best but Aluk bifold doors share many of the attributes at a lower price.

Other makes include Cortizo and Reynaers. We’ll take the time to explore the options with you.
